Mijntje Lukoff is proud to present
Hofer
- at LKFF until Saturday 20 October
Last days!! Don't miss our current show
presenting, for the first time in Brussels, the art of Markus Hofer, artist
also currently exhibited at the Albertina Museum in Vienna. The sculptures and
installations are on view until Saturday October 20 at LKFF
Art & Sculpture Projects.
Hofer develops his work around cognitive dissonance. One could say he is a heir to the Dada movement. Each sculpture disturbs the eye and generates confusion through a new form of «trompe-l’oeil», urging the visitor to look, to stop for a moment, then look again.
Hence the title of this show «The Tour of Reality». Everyday objects come to life, grow and intertwine. The artist takes pleasure making havoc of their reality, often with a touch of humor, or sometimes through a mild form of irritation. The objects are carefully selected and acquire a fresh layer of meaning as the result of his sculptural interventions. Our usual patterns of perception are turned upside down but also expanded and put in a new context. More info...

Markus Hofer, "Boiler" and "A perfect way to waste time", 2012
Hofer
at the Albertina Museum in Vienna
From 17 October until 28
January 2013, Markus Hofer will be the first guest artist at the Albertina
Museum. In his show, he explores the prestigious spaces of this institution and
reacts to spatial situations and facts, dedicating himself to the concealed and
the undetected. His artistic interventions are surprising, sometimes even
confusing. They question the visitors through their mere existence.
The focus shifts from the normal and the daily towards the strange elements of
the artist. more
